Top Music: Weird Al breaks into the Top 10!

October 26th, 2006
Straight Outta Lynwood by Weird Al Yankovic

After 12 albums over nearly 30 years, “Weird Al” Yankovic has finally made it big.

His latest song, titled “White & Nerdy,” debuted this month at the No. 8 spot on Apple iTunes Top 10 and the album “Straight Outta Lynwood,” debuted this month at the No. 10 spot on the Billboard 200, marking the first time in his entire career that one of his albums has been in the top 10. The combination of YouTube and iTunes popularity could only have been topped off by a profile on MySpace, which has allowed Weird Al to accumulate almost 213,000 (as of this writing) “friends” ever since he created the profile last July.

His MySpace profile is actually managed by Weird Al himself, and he has personally added each and every friend. “I used to be a little pickier. Now I just kind of click as fast as I can,” he said.
